Izuchukwu Ahuruonye, winner of the All Progressives Congress House of Assembly primaries for Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, has pledged to provide quality representation and people-oriented leadership if elected in the forthcoming general elections.
Ahuruonye made the pledge on Monday while speaking after emerging victorious in the party’s just-concluded primary election. He said his ambition to represent Ukwa West in the state House of Assembly was driven by a desire to positively impact the lives of his constituents.
According to him, his legislative agenda would focus on accountability, transparency, and effective management of constituency resources to improve the welfare of the people.
“I am contesting this election to touch lives. I am contesting to liberate my people. My law-making will be rooted in accountability and transparency. I will perfectly manage the resources of my constituency, if elected,” he stated.
The APC candidate also expressed appreciation to party members, stakeholders, and voters for giving him the opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the election.
He added that he intends to adopt a community-based approach to representation, promising to remain accessible to constituents and ensure their concerns are reflected in legislative activities.
The primary election, which took place at Asa South Ward, attracted a large turnout of party faithful, supporters, agents, and stakeholders.
Candidates for various House of Assembly seats also emerged across other local government areas of the state during the primaries, which observers reportedly described as largely peaceful.
