Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has directed a full-scale investigation into the tragic killings in Akinlalu involving operatives of the Amotekun Corps. The governor has also dispatched a high-powered government delegation to the affected community to assess the situation and commiserate with victims’ families.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed deep sorrow over the deaths recorded in the incident. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for divine comfort for all those affected.
Following a preliminary report from his Special Adviser on Security Matters, the governor mandated further briefings to be presented to the Deputy Governor by the state security team. “I am a rule of law governor. This matter is being thoroughly investigated, and any wrongdoing will be dealt with according to the law,” Governor Adeleke said. “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. I urge the people of Akinlalu to remain calm while the government takes appropriate action.”
The delegation to visit Akinlalu after the security council meeting will include the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Commissioner for Information, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Commissioner for Transportation, Attorney General of the State, Special Adviser on Legal Matters, and heads of various security agencies.
