The Federal Government on Monday held a crucial meeting with the leadership of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, at the Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja over the union’s ongoing strike.
The meeting, convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, was scheduled for 10 a.m. but the NUPENG delegation arrived at 5:05 p.m.
Also in attendance were representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, and MRS Holdings Limited.
The discussions come amid rising tension after reports of oil workers being ejected by the military, a development that has prompted the NLC to declare support for NUPENG’s action, raising fears of a nationwide shutdown.
