Police Nab Seven Suspected Student Cultists with Human Skull, Gun in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven suspected student cultists found in possession of a human skull and a firearm.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Timfon John, the suspects—alleged members of the banned Ku Klux Klans (KKK) confraternity—were apprehended on August 28, 2025, following a tip-off from a former cult member and student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

John explained that the arrests came after a report was lodged on August 25 by a student who had renounced his membership in the group. The student was ambushed along Ikot Osurua, brutally attacked with dangerous weapons, and left unconscious. His attackers also made away with a Redmi 13C smartphone and N41,000 cash.

Acting on the report, operatives stormed the suspects’ hideout where they recovered a locally made short gun, seven live cartridges, a fresh human skull, a bottle of suspected black oil, and another bottle containing Guyanese oil, believed to be used for rituals.

The suspects, including a female, are currently in custody as investigations continue. Police say more arrests and recoveries are expected, promising to update the public as the probe unfolds.
