Police Arrest Fake Army Colonel Over ₦1.37m Job Scam

 

Akure, Ondo State – September 14, 2025 –
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspected fraudster, Abdullahi Saliu, who allegedly posed as a senior military officer and defrauded victims of ₦1.37 million in a fake job recruitment scheme.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olushola, Saliu, who was arrested at Top Quality Hotel, presented himself as a Colonel in the Nigerian Army and promised jobs in the Nigeria Customs Service and Immigration Service.

Two victims, Oshoade Janet and Daisi Remilekun Joy, were reportedly duped into paying the money, which the suspect converted for personal use. Investigations further revealed that Saliu’s fraudulent operations extended across Edo, Delta, Kogi, and Ondo States, where he has also impersonated naval, immigration, and customs officers.

Police confirmed that the suspect, described as a “notorious job racketeer,” has been arraigned before Magistrate Court 1 in Ondo State for prosecution.

The command noted that the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to crack down on fraud and protect citizens from criminal impostors.
