Ibadan, Oyo State – September 14, 2025
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Obi said his mission was to congratulate the former governor on his ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, describing Ladoja as a leader whose wealth of experience would bring immense value to the throne.
“My visit is about Nigeria, about selfless leadership, leadership that is committed to turning our society around. Ladoja will bring his wealth of experience to bear as Olubadan,” Obi stated.
In response, Oba Ladoja expressed gratitude, stressing that his new role was more about service than glamour.
“I see my appointment as another opportunity for service. Many people erroneously believe the throne is for glamour. That time is gone in contemporary times, it is about what you have to offer society,” the Olubadan-designate noted.
Details of the visit are expected to unfold later.
