Olubadan-Designate Declares Support for Governor Adeleke’s Second Term

Ibadan – September 2, 2025

The Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

Oba Ladoja, a former senator and ex-governor of Oyo State, made the declaration when Governor Adeleke paid him a congratulatory visit at his Ibadan residence ahead of his coronation scheduled for September 26, 2025.

Drawing parallels between their careers in politics and public service, the monarch praised Adeleke’s performance in office, describing him as a transformative leader.

“Every day we hear of your good works in Osun State, and we are proud of the progress you are bringing to your people. Your developmental strides should continue beyond 2026 because no one can stop the good work you are doing. I will personally attend your second-term swearing-in as Olubadan of Ibadan, because one good term deserves another,” Oba Ladoja affirmed.

The Olubadan-designate further applauded Adeleke’s leadership style, acknowledging the challenges of governing Osun but stressing that the governor had “changed the narrative.”

He added:

“Osun is a difficult state to govern but you have done many wonderful things. The people are happy with you. My prayer is that you lead Osun to new heights, overcome all obstacles, and continue to shine as a leader of your people.”

Reflecting on the Adeleke family’s legacy, the monarch lauded their contributions to politics and public life, commending Governor Adeleke for upholding the family’s tradition of service.

In his response, Governor Adeleke congratulated Oba Ladoja on his elevation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, describing it as “well-deserved and historic.” He pledged to honor the monarch during his coronation and prayed for a long, peaceful reign.

“Kabiyesi, I deeply appreciate your guidance and wise counsel. Your leadership legacy continues to inspire me in Osun State. I pray for long life, filled with peace, joy, happiness, and divine blessings on the throne of your forefathers,” Adeleke stated.

The governor was accompanied by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye; Yeyelua Modupeola Sanni-Adeleke; and commissioners Otunba Tola Faseru, Hon. Olatunji Ayofe, Hon. Biyi Odunlade, and Hon. Soji Ajeigbe.
