The Benue State Government has placed an immediate ban on graduation parties for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, and primary schools across the state.
Speaking in Makurdi on Tuesday, the acting Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Mrs. Helen Nambativ, said schools that flout the directive would face sanctions, including possible temporary closure.
According to her, the policy is aimed at sanitising the education sector at the foundational level, stressing that government has put mechanisms in place to ensure compliance.
She explained that schools that disregard the new rule during the 2025/2026 academic session risk losing their operating licence. To enforce the directive, she added, a task force will be set up.
