Inside Story: Why Emiloju Was Removed, Reinstated, and Removed Again from Osun Government Media Platform

Controversy has trailed the removal of Special Assistant Nurudeen Mudashir Emiloju from the Osun State Government’s official media platform following a dispute over the Iwo–Osogbo road project.

According to insider accounts, Emiloju had accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of neglecting the Iwo–Osogbo road. Government officials described the allegation as false, noting that the project had been approved as far back as January, with contractors already issued letters of award as of yesterday.

Despite interventions by two senior stakeholders who reportedly clarified the Governor’s efforts on the project, Emiloju allegedly repeated the accusation. This led to his removal from the platform. He was later reinstated after appeals from elders, but further controversy erupted when he allegedly shared screenshots of the internal discussions with opposition-dominated platforms in Iwo—an act government sources termed “grievous.”

To counter what it described as misinformation, the government said it released the true position of the road contract, including contractors’ mobilisation to site, across Iwo-based platforms. However, Emiloju was accused of worsening matters by issuing a statement thanking the Governor for acting on the road “after his call for action”—a claim the government insists is misleading since the process had been in motion since January.

Officials maintain that the issue goes beyond the road project, stressing that open dissemination of false narratives against the Governor on official matters amounts to indiscipline that cannot be tolerated in any responsible system.
