His influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a dominant factor that could determine the party’s future direction.
According to the report, Wike for years stood as a towering figure in the PDP’s southern base. As governor, he cultivated alliances, bankrolled campaigns, and played a decisive role in the emergence of other governors. His control of Rivers State gave the party its stronghold in the region, while his vast political connections across the country entrenched his authority within the PDP.
Analysts quoted by Vanguard News maintain that with 2027 approaching, Wike’s position will be pivotal in shaping the opposition’s push to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
