The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled Kingsley Chinda as its governorship candidate for Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Thursday in Port Harcourt by the chairman of the party’s governorship primary election committee and returning officer, Bitrus Kwamoti.
Kwamoti revealed the outcome at the APC Secretariat after receiving and collating results from the party’s primary election conducted across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
Speaking during the declaration, he confirmed that the exercise was successfully concluded and that Chinda emerged as the party’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election.
“I, Kwamoti Bitrus, chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee, have been duly certified as the Returning Officer for the Rivers State Governorship Primary Election held on this day, May 21, 2026,” he stated.
The development sets the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested political battle in Rivers State as parties begin preparations for the 2027 polls.
