The Executive Chairman of Ìwó Local Government, Moshood Kabir Adekunle(Irorun), has reiterated his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, emphasizing that the economic progress currently witnessed in Osun State must not be reversed.

In a statement released to the media, Irorun argued that the ruling party (Accord party) has restored stability to the state’s economy through consistent payment of salaries and renewed attention to workers’ welfare. He dismissed opposition claims ahead of the forthcoming elections, describing them as misleading and disconnected from the realities on the ground.

According to him, the economic health of communities like Ìwó is directly tied to the financial stability of civil servants and retirees. “When workers and pensioners are paid as at when due, markets thrive, households stabilize, and local businesses begin to grow,” he stated.

Irorun criticized the previous administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of implementing policies that weakened the grassroots economy. He noted that the era of half salaries not only affected workers but also disrupted local commerce, placing significant strain on families and small-scale enterprises across the state.

He further recalled that many civil servants and retirees faced prolonged hardship during that period, with widespread effects on education, healthcare, and general living standards, particularly in towns like Ìwó.

The council chairman, however, said the narrative has changed under the current administration, noting that full salary payments and ongoing efforts to clear pension arrears have restored confidence in governance. He added that the impact is evident in increased commercial activities and improved livelihoods.

“Markets are more active, artisans have more work, and small businesses are regaining stability. This is what happens when governance prioritizes the people,” Irorun said.

He concluded by urging residents of Ìwó and Osun State to sustain their support for the Adeleke administration, stressing that continuity is essential to preserving the gains already recorded.

Irorun maintained that the current administration represents a shift from economic hardship to inclusive growth, adding that the people have experienced the difference and are in the best position to decide the future.
