What Tinubu seeks abroad exists in our manifesto – Adebayo, SDP ex-presidential candidate

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, saying what the president seeks in Brazil already exists in the SDP manifesto.

In an interview, Adebayo said Tinubu’s admiration of Brazil’s poverty reduction programmes and economic model only highlights the shortcomings of his own administration’s approach. He argued that while Brazil invests in social programmes like Bolsa Familia to cut poverty and boost productivity, Nigeria under Tinubu is pursuing “social divestment,” worsening unemployment, inflation, and poverty.

Adebayo likened Tinubu’s economic reforms to “curing fever with rat poison,” insisting they harm Nigerians instead of providing real solutions. He stressed that poverty reduction, job creation, and social investment in health, education, and housing are essential for sustainable growth.

On 2027 politics, Adebayo welcomed the PDP’s zoning of its presidential ticket to the South but warned that Nigerians want genuine alternatives, not a return to failed governance. He said both APC and PDP have disappointed citizens, and Tinubu risks being voted out if current hardships persist.
According to him, “Nigerians want a new direction. If things remain the same, Tinubu should be grateful for four years and go home.”
